100K posts on the original post!? Didn't see that coming. Take this as my token of appreciation. Here are the new and improved Google Sheets expense templates.

Google sheets running log. Forest Gump would use it
Hopefully?

A few years ago, I created a simple post with a simple template for splitting expenses (oh, and a simple message - that Splitwise sucks and you shouldn't use it). Somehow it's managed to pick up over 100,000 views. Not sure how that happened, but hey! I'm not complaining.

In that post, I offered up: "If you have any issues or requests - email me." Well... I got a lot of emails. With a lot of suggestions. I created these updated versions based largely on those suggestions.

The Basic (Updated) Template << Click to create your copy.

If you're splitting expenses evenly amongst a group of people. This is your template.

The Two-Person Version << Click to create your copy.

For splitting just with 1 other person. This also allows you to do uneven splits (say you and your roommate split everything 60/40)

For Groups or Families << Click to create your copy.

What if you go on a vacation with multiple families. What if the families are of different sizes? Also, do you want to know that your friend's kid owes you money or just that that family owes your family? This template helps with all that.

Un-Even Splits << Click to create your copy.

In this version, expenses aren't necessarily split evenly. You can choose to have 1 person pay 70%, another pay 20% and the other pay 10% (for example).

Multiple Currencies (or just not USD) << Click to create your copy.

This version lets you use other currencies. Or multiple currencies.

Questions / suggestions / requests / etc - you know where to find me.
